Abstract
Since the beginning of 2020, the world as we know it has turned on its head. As the novel pandemic engulfed the entire world, the only hope for mankind was to have a defense, a cure against the highly contagious virus. The world needed a defense, a cure, and needed it fast!
vHistorically, we have seen that organizations and governments use AI or flavors of AI to a varying degree for social and humanitarian causes. However, the pace & scale of the pandemic required the benefits of AI that we have talked about all so often in the past to come to the forefront and critically aid and assist in the defense against the spread of pandemic and to provide a quick cure for mankind. AI has effectively played a very important role in many of our fights against the pandemic! Be it in drug discovery, where AI helped Moderna to in reducing the vaccine development cycle time via accurate predictions of virus structure generation. Be it in clinical setup to where AI has augmented decision making for resource allocation and course of patient treatment. Or be it in the field of contact tracing for risk of exposure, just to name a few. This post is sponsored by our partners.
IEEE Computer Society Bangalore Chapter is proud to present its flagship event DeepTech.AI series for 2021, focusing on the use of AI for effective tackling of COVID-19. The goal of this event is to bring together practitioners from various industry verticals and academia to allow cross-pollination of ideas across verticals to discuss various facets of how AI has been used to fight COVID, be it drug discovery, medical image analysis, chronic disease management to prediction modeling.
Looking forward to meeting you at the event!
