Dr. Rajeev Rastogi

Director, Machine Learning, Amazon INDIA

Rajeev Ramnarain Rastogi is an Indian computer scientist who graduated from the Indian Institute of Technology Bombay, where he got his Bachelor of Science degree in 1988. He received his Master's and Doctoral degrees from the University of Texas in 1990 and 1993 respectively.

In 1993 Rastogi started working at Bell Labs in Murray Hill, New Jersey. He became member of technical staff at its Information Sciences Research Center. Five years later he held the Distinguished Member of Technical Staff position and by 1999 became a director of the Internet Management Research Department and became a Bell Labs fellow in 2003. In 2012, he became a fellow of the Association for Computing Machinery "for contributions to the analysis and management of large data sets."

He was Vice President of Yahoo! Labs in Bangalore and is currently serving as a director of Machine Learning on Amazon.com. He has over 200 peer-reviewed articles with the CURE: An Efficient Clustering Algorithm for Large Databases which received over 3,100 citations since 1998, bringing him an h-index of 63.

Dr. Gowri Srinivasa

Professor, PESIT

Gowri Srinivasa obtained her Bachelors degree in Computer Science and Engineering from P.E.S. Institute of Technology at Bangalore in 2004. She then obtained her Ph.D. in Biomedical Engineering from Carnegie Mellon University in 2008, working under the supervision of Prof. Jelena Kovacevic on Biomedical Image Processing problems. Since August 2008, she has been with the department of Information Science and Engineering at P.E.S. Institute of Technology, Bangalore South Campus, where she is currently a professor and involved in developing the Center for Pattern Recognition.

Gowri's research interests are in the areas of image and signal processing, multiresolution techniques and pattern recognition. Her current research is focused on problems in these domains.

Gowri is an Associate Member of Technical Committee for Bio Imaging and Signal Processing of the IEEE Signal Processing Society.

Dr. Manish Gupta

CEO, VideoKen

Dr. Manish Gupta is a co-founder and CEO of VideoKen, a video technology startup, and the Infosys Foundation Chair Professor at IIIT Bangalore. Previously, Manish has served as Vice President and Director of Xerox Research Centre India and has held various leadership positions with IBM, including that of Director, IBM Research - India and Chief Technologist, IBM India/South Asia. As a Senior Manager at the IBM T.J. Watson Research Center in Yorktown Heights, New York, Manish led the team developing system software for the Blue Gene/L supercomputer. IBM was awarded a National Medal of Technology and Innovation for Blue Gene by US President Barack Obama in 2009. Manish holds a Ph.D. in Computer Science from the University of Illinois at Urbana Champaign. He has co-authored about 75 papers, with more than 6,000 citations in Google Scholar (and an h-index of 45), and has been granted 19 US patents. While at IBM, Manish received two Outstanding Technical Achievement Awards, an Outstanding Innovation Award, and the Lou Gerstner Team Award for Client Excellence. Manish is a Fellow of ACM and the Indian National Academy of Engineering, and a recipient of a Distinguished Alumnus Award from IIT Delhi

Dr. Venkatesh Babu

Assistant Professor, IISC

Venkatesh Babu is an assistant professor in Computational and Data Sciences (CDS), Indian Institute of Science (IISc), Bangalore. He received his doctorate degree from the Dept. of Electrical Engineering, Indian Institute of Science, Bangalore. Thereafter, he held postdoctoral positions at NTNU, Norway and IRISA/INRIA, Rennes, France, through ERCIM fellowship. Subsequently he worked as a research fellow at NTU, Singapore. He spent couple of years working in industry before joining IISc in August 2010.

His research interests span signal processing, compression, machine vision, image/video processing, pattern recognition and multimedia. The challenge of emulating human perception, understanding and decision-making capacity, on problems stemming from real-life applications of multimedia, greatly drives my research focus. Some specific problems in his domain of interest are compressed domain video analysis/processing, video surveillance, visual tracking, event detection, object-based video retrieval and image/video quality assessment.

Mr. Ashwani Garg

Dr. Ashwani Garg is CEO and Co-Founder of Kalpnik , whose vision is to bring unique blend of AR/VR/CV and interaction technologies so people can experience places/events remotely like never before.

He has more than 2 decades of rich experience in engineering, business and executive roles in start-ups and large organizations both in India & USA. He has strong understanding of global technology trends/ecosystem with the ability to define product strategy, roadmaps and build global execution teams.

Most recently, he was involved in creating Intel’s strategy and products in IOT Smart home space while growing APAC business. As a founding member of new business incubation efforts at Intel, he has built several disruptive start-up businesses from concept to revenue including successful IOT sensing and services business in consumer healthcare (Intel’s first product inspired by unique India market needs) and Automotive telematics. He also led an unsuccessful start-up that attempted to bring internet to masses through TV screen, an idea ahead of it's time.

Prior to Intel, At Trillium (acquired by Intel) and InterWave (acquired by Alvarion), he developed and managed comms infra products that were deployed with Tier-1 customers worldwide. He started his career at C-DOT developing India’s first 40K digital exchange deployed at Bangalore, India. He holds multiple patents in the area of distributed fault tolerant systems.

With his early start in IOT domain, he is well networked in the industry and has been a regular speaker/mentor at Nasscom, TiE, IESA, and many events in early days to build IOT momentum in India.

At a personal level, he is an advisor/mentor to several start-ups in IOT, enterprise SAAS, and AR/VR space. He holds BE in Computer SC from MNNIT, Allahabad and executive MBA from IIM, Bangalore.

Dr. Pramod Kompalli

Senior Data Scientist, OLA

Dr. Pramod Kompalli is a Senior Data Scientist at Ola, where he works on Computer Vision and Machine Learning problems. Previously, he was with Flipkart, where he built visual search & recommendation systems, as well as a demand forecasting solution. Earlier, he was a Research Scientist at Xerox Research Centre India (XRCI), where he applied Deep Learning approaches for object recognition and multimodal data fusion.

Pramod completed his PhD from IIIT-Hyderabad, focusing on building retrieval systems for large-scale multimedia collections such as movies, sports videos and document images. His PhD Thesis had won the Doctoral Dissertation Award from IUPRAI. Pramod had delivered a tutorial at DAS 2014, on Large Scale Document Retrieval and was an organizer of the Robust Reading Workshop at ECCV 2016 & ACCV 2014. He was awarded an Outstanding Reviewer Award at ACCV 2014 and ICDAR 2017. One of his projects on Cricket video annotation was covered by The Washington Post, NDTV Gadgets, etc.

Ms. Vaishali Neotia is an engineer, entrepreneur, speaker, and revolutionist. Mr. Niranjan Pedanekar

Mr. Niranjan Pedanekar has extensive experience in applied research and innovation, mainly in managing innovation, applying data analytics to real-life problems and scale-up of such solutions. In parallel, he works as a theater writer and director at Rangdrishti, Pune.

His current area of research is the intersection of Entertainment, Data Science and Behavioral Science. He is working on research-based solutions for personalization of entertainment and re-imagining the future of entertainment.

Mr. Rajesh Banginwar

Rajesh Banginwar is a Principal Engineer in Intel’s Internet of Things Group focusing on the industrial IOT domain for data management and analytics. He also leads the architecture definition in the functional safety space for Intel’s IOT Si products. Prior to that he worked as platform security architect for Intel’s mobile products. He has over 30 patents filed or in progress. He has Master’s degree in Computer Science from Indian institute of Science, Bangalore.

Dr. Tathagato Rai Dastidar

Mr. Tathagato Rai Dastidar, also known as Tatha is the co-founded and Chief Scientific Officer of SigTuple Technologies Private Limited, a startup application of machine learning in healthcare. He holds Ph.D (2007) and B.Tech. (2000) degrees in Computer Science & Engineering from IIT Kharagpur. He has 18+ years industry experience.

Mr. Neeraj Tiwari

Mr. Neeraj Tiwari has over 10+ years of experience to research, design, and create Artificial Intelligence product in industry. He is specialised in deep learning with applications to image, video and text understanding.

His general interests are Deep learning for object recognition, Video analysis for semantic content, Word Embedding and understanding the contextual relationship between words.

Mr. K S Shriram

K S Shriram is an alumnus of Penn State University and RV College of Engineering. Over the years he has had opportunities to work on Computer Vision problems as varied as tracking people across cameras to tracking tumours inside the lungs; from measuring the length of a queue of shoppers at a retail outlet to measuring the length of a crack in complicated machinery. He is currently employed as Senior Scientist at GE Global Research, Bangalore.
